Description

This 4-inch replica is based on the Gothic sculpture ‘Christ on the Mount of Olives’ (ca. 1390) from the Malbork Castle Museum, originally carved by the Master of the Beautiful Madonna of Toru. The original is fashioned from marly limestone, rich in calcite with traces of quartz and glauconite, likely imported from a Prague workshop around the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries’. Our version faithfully reproduces Christ kneeling in prayer, capturing the flowing drapery and solemn expression in fine resolution.
