Saint George – by Donatello – 1417 – Miniature Statue – 6 Inches

Description

This 6-inch miniature faithfully reproduces Donatello’s original marble Saint George, one of fourteen sculptures commissioned by Florence’s guilds for the Orsanmichele church. Capturing every sculpted detail from the proud stance of the armor-clad saint to the subtle folds of his cloak, this 3D printed replica honors the work of the Arte dei Corazzai e Spadai. It also recalls the sculpture’s storied history: its damaged nose from an 1858 stone, its 1892 move to the Bargello Museum, its wartime theft and recovery in 1945, and the restoration of its base in 1976.
